Kumasi, Sept 5, GNA - Mr Kwame Appiah Boateng, the 2004 Convention People's Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for the Nhyiaeso constituency in Kumasi, has appealed to the leadership of the CPP to intervene and bring together former President Rawlings and President Kufuor to make peace.
He said it was important that the CPP leadership add its voice to the concern about the unhealthy differences between the two statesmen as expressed by many well-meaning Ghanaians.
Speaking in an interview in Kumasi, Mr Boateng said Ghanaians should be concerned about the current political rift between the two. He said the situation where the two topmost politicians were calling each other "evil" was not a hearty sign for the younger politicians who were expected to take political leadership in the country.
Mr Boateng said such public display of hate is unfortunate since it tended to influence the youth, who are the future leaders. He warned that if left unresolved, the current situation between the two could breed political hatred between their followers and seriously affect the political development of the country.
