Akropong constituency of CPP elects new officers

Akropong, Nov. 16, GNA- The Eastern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Nana Owusu Sekyere has called on functionaries of the party to embark on a vigorous campaign throughout the country to enable the party to win the 2008 elections. He said the suffering being experienced by the many poor people in the country in the face of plenty has exposed the incompetence of the New Patriotic Party's(NPP) Government and called on the people to vote NPP out of power.

Nana Owusu Sekyere was speaking at the inauguration of the newly elected 15-member executive of the Akropong Constituency Branch of the CPP at Akropong on Friday. The new executive is under the Chairmanship of Mr Kofi Heneku with Mr Patrick Asiedu as Secretary, Mr Kwesi Tannor, Treasurer, Mr Barima Nyarko, Organiser and Mr Isaac Amoah Atiemo as Youth Organizer. One of the presidential aspirants of the CPP, Dr Kweku Osafo expressed regret that, despite the large resources of the country , Ghana still relies heavily on outside aid. He said all is not well with the country and Ghana needed a government of the CPP to enable the country to take its destiny into its own hands and move forward to be counted among the economic giants of the world. Two leading members of the party who were aspiring to be elected as the general secretary of the party at its next national congress, Mr Kosi Dede and Mr Micheal Nunoo were introduced to the delegates of the party at the constituency congress. 16 Nov. 2007
