Let us register with the NHIS -DCE

Senya Beraku (C/R) Aug. 25 GNA-Only 37,000 out of the 188,000 people in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District (AESD) in the Central Region have registered with the District Health Insurance Scheme. Mr. Solomon Abban-Quaye, the District Chief Executive disclosed this when addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of Senya Beraku to mark their annual Akomase festival.

He therefore, appealed to the people to stop spending too much on funerals and acquisition of material wealth and register with the scheme to enable them enjoy better health care delivery. Mr. Abban-Quaye, said promotion of education in the district would be a priority and warned that with the implementation of the FCUBE next academic year, any child of school-going age found in the street or at the beach during school hours would be arrested and the parents prosecuted.

He said the development of the district was a collective responsible of the people and not the prerogative of the Government and the assemblies. The DCE therefore, urged them to honour their tax obligation to enable the assembly generate more revenue to undertake development projects.

Mr. Onassis Anderson, Chairman of the Senya Urban Council, called for increase in the supply of Premix fuel to fishermen in the area. He said due to inadequate supply of Premix fuel, the fishermen had been compelled to mix petrol with engine oil for their operations.
