An unbearable stench has taken over the Kaneshie Polyclinic, making it difficult for both nurses and patients to healthily work as expected.
The stench according to Atinka FM’s Regina Asamoah who visited the hospital, is so strong that it makes one feels like vomiting upon entering the facility.
Investigations revealed that the nurses and some patients started complaining about the situation two weeks ago but nothing much has been done by the administration to rectify it.
Some nurses who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity explained that there was a spillage at one of their manholes behind the hospital’s Recovery Ward over the weekend and therefore suspect it could be the cause of the stench that has been disturbing them for two weeks now.
The stench is severe at the Antenatal Clinic and at the Recovery Ward. What is most worrying is that pregnant women who come for antenatal treatment are compelled to inhale this stench for the several hours they will be at the Antenatal Clinic.
More so, nursing mothers and their babies who attend the post-natal care go through the same ordeal which obviously is unhealthy.
Speaking to some of pregnant women on Tuesday, they confirmed the unfortunate situation but said they had no option than to inhale as the polyclinic is where they have started their antenatal care.
