Leukaemia Project Foundation on Thursday 6th December, 2018 launched its maiden Art and Photography competition dubbed “Cells in Colour” at the British Council, Accra.
Themed “Hope Beats Fear”, the competition is to bring hope to cancer patients and serve as a guideline for artists from various schools taking part in the open competition to enable them express freedom, hope and positive creative works that will go along way in cracking the pain seated in the heart of a leukaemia patient.
The leukaemia Project Foundation has its efforts geared towards the awareness and provision of support for persons particularly children with Leukaemia and other blood related cancers.
The launch chaired by renowned fashion designer Nana Hemaa Konadu, had the president of the foundation Mr Gerald Osei Boakye announcing the categories of the competition.
Ranging from one to four respectively the categories allows participants between the age of 8 to 12 years, 13 to 19, tertiary art students and professionals in taking part in the competition which judges everyone as a winner.
Closing all entries on 31st March 2019, Organisers of the competition pens down plans to hold a month-long exhibition aimed at awarding the best works in the respective categories.
Mr Osei Boakye also mentioned some of the artworks and photographs will be auctioned in order to raise funds for Leukaemia Project Foundation activities.
Present at the launch was Dr Baffour Awuah a special adviser at the Ministry of Health, Dr Yvonne Die Adomako, school pupils and media persons who endorsed and pledged support for the cause by part taking in a live painting exercise.
