The La-Nkwantanang- Madina Municipal Assembly at the weekend donated three collapsible tents valued at ¢2,300.00 to the Municipal Health Directorate to help cater for cholera patients.
Alhaji Imam Mohammed, Municipal Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation, who presented the items to Madam Priscilla Anima Siaw, Municipal Director of Health on behalf of the assembly said it would help accommodate patients from Madina Polyclinic, the Madina Rawlings Circe Polyclinic and the Danfa Health Centre.
Madam Siaw expressed gratitude to the assembly for the aid, which she said had come at the opportune time to assist accommodate the cholera patients whose numbers have outgrown the temporary structure built for them.
She said about 457 persons who contracted the disease have been treated and discharged. However seven deaths were recorded.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Madina Polyclinic Disease Control Unit Officer, Madam Sophia Asher said from August 14 to September 4, more than 200 patients were treated and discharged.
She said as September 5, 12 cholera patients were on admission receiving treatment in the Isolation Ward.
