Abuakwa murder: two more arrested

Police from the Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Headquarters, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Abuakwa Police in Kumasi have arrested two more people suspected to be involved in the murder of a 14-year-old boy.

The murder occurred on Monday when the assailant took advantage of ‘light off’, sneaked into the room of the family of late Pastor Johnson Opoku, beheaded Akwasi Yeboah and inflicted severe machete wounds on two others; the widow as well as the sibling of Akwasi Yeboah.

The Abuakwa Police a few days ago arrested two people; James Appau and Kofi Agyei, suspected to be involved in the incident.

On Thursday, the homicide unit, CID and the Abuakwa Police, detained two more people who are family members of the late Pastor.

They are Pastor Daniel Appiah of the Continuation Church at Wenchi in the Dormaa district in the Brong Ahafo Region and Kojo Kru a farmer at Kintampo, all siblings of the late Pastor who have not even been buried.

The two are alleged to have attempted evicting the widow and her children from their home due to a misunderstanding over the rightful owners of properties left behind by Pastor Johnson Opoku.

According to Hello FMs Sampson Kwame Nyamekye, the two people who have been arrested have not visited the family of their brother as tradition demands ever since the incident occurred.
