Court remands marketing officer for stealing

Samuel Tetteh, a 22-year old marketing officer of Rogai Micro-finance Services, was on Friday remanded into prison custody for stealing GH?16,088 from his employers.

He pleaded guilty to the offence but the court deferred judgment to April 12, next month.

Presenting the facts of the case, Inspector Bernard Annor told a Takoradi Circuit court presided over by Mr Kwasi Boakye that the complainant, Mr Richard Adjei, who is the Managing Director of the company detected the theft of GH?7, 588 in the company’s account and this prompted the management to institute investigations into the theft.

The prosecution said Tetteh was found culpable of the theft and subsequently admitted the offence.

Later, the management of the company discovered that the accused had also collected GH?8, 500 from the customers of the company without rendering account.

Inspt Annor said in all, the accused was found to have stolen a total of GH?16, 088 from the company’s accounts, therefore the Managing Director of the company reported the theft to the police.

The accused admitted the offence in his caution statement and was arraigned.**
