The alertness of a driver and his mate at Mankranso in the Ahafo-Ano South District on Wednesday morning prevented a burglar from escaping with his booty.
Kwabena Issifu had broken into the shop of a dressmaker, stolen three Butterfly sewing machines, seven half-pieces of wax print and attempted transporting these to Kumasi in a passenger bus.
The driver and mate on seeing him with the goods became suspicious and handed him over to the Police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)Vitus Napen, the Mankranso District Police Commander, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the crime was committed on Tuesday night.
Issifu, he said, had confessed stealing the items from the shop of one Martha Fosuaa.
ASP Napen said the suspect would soon be put before court to answer for his crime.
He thanked the driver and the mate for their security consciousness.
