A renowned Ghanaian actress, Ms Suzzy Williams, 23, died yesterday in a motor accident in front of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
The accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. while she and a male companion were leaving the Jokers Restaurant at La and travelling towards the Teshie Nungua Estates.
She sustained severe injuries following the accident and was first rushed to the Lister Hospital on the Spintex Road for first aid before being transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where she died soon after admission.
According to the La Police,the vehicle on which they were travelling somersaulted and, in the process, Suzzy was thrown out of it. But her male companion escaped unhurt.
The Mitsubishi Pajero, with registration number GW 818 W, in which they were travelling, has been towed to the La Police Station.
When the news of her death broke out, a number of seasoned Ghanaian actors and actresses thronged the scene of the accident and later moved to the La Police Station to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the news.
A number of them started weeping uncontrollably when the police confirmed that Suzzy had died at the hospital.
Ms Karlsoum Sinare and Vivian Achor, both seasoned actresses in tears,described Suzzy?s death as a big blow to the Ghanaian film industry.
Suzzy featured in several TV soap operas and films, notable among them being Bloody Mary, Tentacles, Mother?s Heart, Sun City and Calamity.
