VEEP pays homage to Ga Mantse

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, on Wednesday expressed the commitment of the Government to give the late King of the Ga State, Nii Amugi II a befitting funeral. Speaking after signing a book of condolence at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra, adorned with traditional mourning colours of black and red, mournful Alhaji Mahama, said the Government would come in strongly to give the King a deserving funeral.

He recalled the enstoolment of Nii Amugi at a very young age, when he was a student, saying: " As young men in school we all admired him for the immense responsibility entrusted in him".

" I ask for God mercies and very peaceful rest in immortality for him."

Nii Adotey Obuor II, acting President of the Ga Traditional Council and Sempe Mantse (Chief of Sempe) said after Friday, September, 2005, the Council would set a tentative date for the funeral, to give "Nii Ga a passage to his ancestral home".

Ga Mantse who ruled for 39 years, died at the age of 65, after a protracted illness.
