VRA complains of illegal electricity connections in N/R

Tamale, Sept. 30, GNA - Mr. Louis Yeboah, Customer Service supervisor of the Northern Electricity Department of the Volta River Authority (VRA) has expressed dissatisfaction about the number of illegal electricity connections in the Northern Region, which have led to massive revenue loss.

Speaking to the GNA in Tamale on Tuesday, he said such illegal connections also pose serious threat to the people and advised the public to report such activities.

Mr. Yeboah said the penalty for such an offence is a fine of 50,000 cedis or in default re-allocation of meter.

He asked residents, who have been allocated pay-meters but were owing VRA while operating the old meters to come forward and negotiate on the settlement of the debts.
