Tension on the premises of PAC

There is tension on the premises of the Pioneer Aluminum Company at Tema after reports that the company?s Managing Director Nimo Boateng is leaving his post.

The workers are unhappy about what they refer to as the persistent interference from the Chairman of the company?s board.

The Secretary to the local Union, Seth Obuobi told JOYNEWS that they want their M-D retained.

?As at now, we don?t know if it is the MD who is running the company or the board chairman who is running the company, so we want a free hand. If the board chairman has appointed our new chairman Mr Nimo Boateng as managing director then he should give him the free hand to operate at least with trust than interfering in his affairs,? he said.

He said workers had information that the managing director had not signed any cheque since April.

?But we know that he is managing the company? he said.

Mr. Obuobi said the board is aware of workers? concerns. But he said they?ve done nothing.

? The last time the board met we the workforce led by the executive petitioned the board too at least back the manager who was demanding some amount to run the company. I think our problem is we want the MD to stay,? he said.
