The criminal Division of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Georgina Mensa-Datsa has refused an application for bail from seven of the 10 suspects who have been held for allegedly plotting a coup.

The seven Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, Dornyah “Ezor” Kafui – a local weapon manufacturer, Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) – a freight manager, Gershun Akpa – a civilian employee of the Armed Forces, Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, Sylvester Akanbiri have been charged with treason together with Three others.

The court in ruling on the application moved by lawyer for the suspect Victor Kodjogah Adawudu said: “the application for bail will be repeated if no progress is made in the prosecution by the end of January 2020 they should be able to tell through disclosures.”

In a related development, the court is expected to also rule on a similar application by Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, the eighth suspect in the case.

ACP Benjamin Agordzo is also expected to move his bail application today before the Financial and Economic Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botwe.

Meanwhile, the only female among the 10 suspects WO2 Esther Saan had earlier been granted bail but she yet to meet the conditions.
