Controversial private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has described the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a useless alternative to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He observes that the NDC is not conducting itself in a manner to suggest it is the best alternative to the NPP taking into account the activities of the Homeland Study Group which it failed to condemn.
“Let us take the security of the nation serious. Where it has gotten to we need to take NDC and NPP out of the whole issue. That is one thing I get pissed about the NDC. What is the opposition saying about the matter? You want to take over the country in 2020 and Volta Region is your stronghold but you appear mute because of politics. The opposition has become useless, they are not an alternative before God and Man”, he revealed on Kumasi-based Otec Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
According to him, how will it profit the party if they win 2020 elections and their stronghold which the separatist are laying claim to in the name of Western Togoland.
Maurice Ampaw suspects the NDC’s silence is borne out of wickedness warning that if they sit aloof and allow the activities of secessionists to fester on, they are the bigger losers.
He has therefore challenged the NDC to make its stance on the matter clear rather than keep quiet over an issue that directly and indirectly affects them electorally considering what is actually going on.
“What is the opposition saying about the issue? I am expecting them to join hands with the government of the day. NDC is looking for power in 2020 and someone is coming to claim your land and you appear indifferent. I am expecting the NDC by this time to issue a statement because Volta Region is their stronghold”, he reiterated.
