... Africa's Kings to Converge in Ethiopia for Upcoming ADF

King of Asantes, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of South Africa's Royal Bafokeng Kingdom, His Majesty Kgosi Leruo T. Molotlegi and other Africa's royal personalities will next month converge in Ethiopia to attend and participate at the Fourth African Development Forum (ADF IV) to be held in Addis Ababa from 11 to 15 October, 2004 The Daily Monitor learnt.

The kings' participation at the forum is initiated to look for ways on how the traditional leadership and modern form of elected governance could be best integrated to bring about effective governance in those countries where both systems of leadership are being practiced, according to the information The Daily Monitor gathered from Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), which will host the forum.

The kings and respective government leaders will present their views at the forum on how the traditional and modern governance could best be interlinked.

About one thousand delegates from all over Africa including presidents, activists, business people, academics and journalists are expected to attend the forum and debate about strengthening governance in the continent, according to a press release sent to The Daily Monitor. The forum, which goes with the theme Governance for a Progressive Africa, will take place at ECA's headquarters here.

The forum will discuss and examine ways of improving governance in Africa and make concrete recommendations on mechanisms for instituting and monitoring good governance. All three previous forums have helped launch new initiatives and activities, as well as important blue prints that have had wide ranging impacts, according to the press release.
