The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has asked government to deal with the irate youth who demonstrated against the creation of the Oti region recently.
The chiefs believe the youth don’t mean well for the people of the region. They say those people are against national development hence their protest.
The elders were at the commission of enquiry to present a petition on behalf of the area when Dr. Kwaku Addeah said the new region will bring about massive development.
Hundreds in March staged a demonstration in the Volta Regional capital Ho, in protest against plans to carve out a new Oti Region.
The protesters argued, the motive behind the creation of the region is untenable.
They said the central government should cede its powers and control to the districts to plan their local economies.
