Defender Richard Ocran has lamented on the treatment meted out to him by AshantiGold SC following his release by the club.
The 30-year-old guardsman's contract expired at the end of last season but the club decided against renewing it as part of their new policy of keeping a sizable squad number in the upcoming campaign.
Reflecting on the decision by the Obuasi-based club, Ocran believes the club gave him a raw deal in releasing him after sacrificing so much during their battle to escape the relegation drop.
"I went to Ashgold with clean hearts but so many things happened there but if you’re working with someone and the person doesn’t appreciate your effort you have to advice yourself hence my contract termination’’ said Ocran.
The former Dreams FC player claims he rejected offers from Cyprus and Turkey since he had to focus on Ashanti Gold SC to beat relegation.
‘’Can you imagine I had to reject offers from clubs in Turkey and Cyprus to focus on our mission to survive relegation because our position on the league table was very bad and now see what they have done to me’."
‘’I rejected those offers because of the love I had for Ashanti Gold SC only to be treated this way at the end of the season."
Ocran scored three goals to help AshantiGold finish the season in 10th position.
