NPP candidate urges all parties to co-exist to develop the nation

Obuasi, May 31, GNA - The aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the newly created Akrofuom Constituency in the Adansi West District has stressed the need for all political parties to co-exist in the interest of peace and development of the nation. Mr Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah, the aspiring candidate; observed: "It is important for all Ghanaians to unite, irrespective of our political affiliation to ensure the smooth development of the country." In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Obuasi at the weekend, Mr Appiah-Pinkrah called for a decent political campaign that would not disturb the peace and unity in the country: "We must play the political game in a more matured manner."

The aspiring parliamentary candidate noted that the NPP had identified itself with the development of the rural communities and, therefore, urged rural dwellers not only to stand firm and solidly behind the Government but also vote for the party to power during Election 2004.

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah, who is a Management Development Consultant, said mobilising the human and material resources within the new constituency for self-development would be his political message. "Money does not flow in Accra and that we need to mobilise our own resources and human capacities to enable us to gain respect and support from Government as well as other donor agencies," he said. He advised all the political parties in the constituency to respect each other and to understand that "at the end of the day we all belong to one constituency.

"At the end of the day, only one person will get to Parliament in the name of Akrofuom Constituency and so we must play the game in a healthier and matured manner", he said.

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah called for effective collaboration and co-operation between sister-constituencies in the Adansi Traditional Area not only to give the mandate to the NPP but also to facilitate the holistic development of the area.
