New Construction Equipment Introduced On the Ghanaian Market

Accra Tractor and Equipment (T&E), dealers in Caterpillar machines, today held its customers' day with the launching of a new road construction machine, the CS 533 Vibratory Compactor. The features of the 10-tonne machine, which is suitable for all compaction works from sidewalk paving to highway and dam construction, was demonstrated to a cross-section of road and mining contractors who use Caterpillar equipment. Mr Bashiru Sakibu, Chief Executive of the Ghana Highway Authority, who launched the machine, said the road construction industry is so capital-intensive that it takes up to 50 per cent of the country's development budget. He noted that with only 30 to 40 per cent of the country's road network in good condition, a lot needs to be done to get them into the best shape. Mr Paul Wilson, Managing Director of T&E, said their guiding principle is to supply quality products and support and build partnerships with their customers. The visitors were taken on a tour of the T&E facility.
