Ghatel to test Black Queens

Accra, Feb 10, GNA - Ghatel ladies of Accra, the defending league champions of the Greater Accra Women Soccer League will test the strength of the Black Queens in a friendly match when the two lock horns at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday February 11.

The game, which will start at 9am, is expected to give the Queens the needed challenge to keep them in shape ahead of their crucial Olympic Games qualifier against the Super Falcons of Nigeria slated for the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

An official of Ghatel Ladies told the GNA Sports that the team was prepared to match the Queens with the needed opposition despite losing some of their players to the national team.

The encounter which will be among the series of trials for the Queens will possibly see coach Oko Aryee parading the likely line up that will do battle against the Nigerians on Saturday.

The Queens skipper and back-to-baton Alberta Sackey is expected to lead her side that will possibly have Florence Oko, Adjoa Bayor, Genevieve Clottey and Belinda Kanda keeping the midfield intact. The last time the two sides met, the Queens triumphed over their counterparts with three unanswered goals and it is likely that the Ghatel team may lose again as they are currently depleted with six of their players now in the camp of the Queens.

But the Queens defence pivoted around Elizabeth Baidoo, Lydia Ankrah, Aminatu Ibrahim and Mavis Danso are expected to have their match in the likes of Gifty Asare, Faustina Hammound and Evelyn Annan tomorrow.
