Traditional fishermen at Mpakadan Old town, Mpakadan-Resettlement, Kronshie and Anyensu, located in the Asuogyaman District are complaining about the activities of fish farmers.

Mr Evans Awudu, the Vice-Secretary of the Local Fishermen Group, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the inauguration of a borehole for the Mpakadan communities, said such fishing companies have taken over the lake.

He said the companies are restricting the activities of local fishermen, destroying the local economy and are contaminating the lake.

Mr Awudu said efforts have been made to get a hearing from the authorities but this has yielded no results leaving them with the only alternative of mass action.
