JUSAG strike: Judges hear cases in chambers

Some judges in Accra are hearing ‘pressing’ cases in their chambers following a strike by Judicial Service staff, Starr News can confirm.

The nationwide strike has halted all court proceedings as JUSAG president, Alex Nartey, ordered members to abandon their duties until government responds positively to their demands.

Two failed meetings between JUSAG executives and Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, over their unpaid allowances have necessitated the strike which started on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

“We told them, by Tuesday the 19th if we don’t hear anything substantial, we will go home, sit down and not do anything at the court.

"We just came from a meeting and we have not been given any reason to stay… so go home!” Nartey told his members on Tuesday.
