J. B. Danquah promises to be Subin’s best MP

The US-based economic development expert, Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah, who is aspiring to become the next legislator for Subin constituency in Kumasi, says his passion is positive change and development of the constituency.

His conviction to deliver is premised on his position that MPs are agents of change for which he is ready to change the trend of governance by sourcing funding from institutions based at Subin under the Public, Private Partnership (PPP) for the benefit of the people he seeks to represent.

He said at a meeting with delegates in Kumasi last Wednesday that he was prepared to serve his passion to develop the constituency by exploring opportunities.

J. B. Danquah explained at the meeting, which coincided with the launch of his campaign that his bid was driven by his desire to promote education and fight poverty towards the development of the constituency.

Believing that human development is national development he intends to establish a private scholarship scheme and also focus on ICT as well as create credit facilities for SMES from Common Fund. On health delivery, the aspirant intends to institute health monitoring teams to ensure the health needs of the constituents.

The tax consultant said he is young enough to be strong and matured to execute his duties as a parliamentarian to champion the interests of his constituents when he gets the nod.

Inspired by the exploits of former President Kufuor, the aspirant promised to work hard to become the best MP Subin has ever had, adding that voting at elections has long lasting effect and called on the delegates to choose the right person to champion the aspirations of the people.

He stressed the need for the selection of candidates who could deliver saying it would be a disservice to the party and posterity of delegates allowed themselves to be influenced in their choice of a candidate and reminded them that election of the candidate must be Informed on the aspirations of the people. J. B. Danquah also reminded the delegates to adequately prepare to win power as the ultimate objective of the NPP.

He said the 2016 election was a crucial and called for vigilance on the part of the polling station agents.

He advocated open declaration of results of the elections saying the strong room concept is alien to the democratic process in Ghana and Must be discouraged because it is the basis of rigging.

The Subin parliamentary aspirant, who was named after Dr. J. B. Danquah of the Big Six fame, assured that transparency and accountability would be his guiding principles for the implementation of programmes.

He said well-defined criteria for the selection for award of scholarship to de deserving students would be instituted to ensure transparency in the exercise.

J. B. Danquah also said he would account for his stewardship by reporting back to the constituents every other quarter.

He has cautioned his supporters against abusive and foul language and encouraged decent campaign saying the claim to the seat is purely an NPP family affair.

The Regional NPP Treasurer, Hajia Zeina, reminded the delegates to be mindful of the ultimate aim of the NPP to win Power come 2016, and called for unity to fight the NDC as a common enemy to redeem Ghanaians from hardships.
