NPP to descend on Kwabena Agyapong

A section of the New Patriotic Party, spearheaded by a loud-mouth spin doctors, will in the coming days unleash a new wave of attack on the embattled General Secretary, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, the The aL-hAJJ newspaper gathered.

Kwabena Agyapong’s latest ‘crime’ was his inability to push through Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s last-hope demand, a new voters register, when he represented the NPP at the just concluded meeting of the Electoral Reforms Committee.

Plotting this fresh attack on the heavily criticized and demonized General Secretary, an NPP insider revealed, is a premier spin doctor of the elephant party who is credited with supervising Nana Akufo-Addo’s twice botched attempts at the presidency.

Reports available to The aL-hAJJ indicate that in order to bait the generality of the public in believing that the attack on Kwabena Agyapong’s failure to push for a new voter register is genuine, supposed neutral political analysts and surrogates of the ‘ring leader’ have been lined-up to execute this latest plot, which is part of a wider conspiracy aimed at pushing the NPP general secretary out.

Those tasked with this job, according to our sources, are to blame Kwabena Agyapong for deliberately failing to carry Nana Akufo-Addo’s agenda for a new voter register for the 2016 elections in order to deny him victory in the next presidential election.

They claim Kwabena Agyapong’s decision not to pursue the interest of Nana Akufo-Addo was borne out of his decision to mysteriously supplant former National Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, on the Electoral Reform Committee.

The Electoral Commission in January this year, inaugurated a ten-member committee to oversee the implementation of electoral reforms ahead of the 2016 general elections.

The committee, which was chaired by a member of the EC, Georgina Opoku Amankwa, initially had Peter Mac Manu (NPP), Asiedu Nketia (NDC), Christian Owusu Parry (EC), Mrs Rebecca Kabuki, James Kwabena Bomfeh (CPP), Anim Kofi Addo, Kwesi Jonah, Ransford Gyampoh and Franklin Oduro, as members.

However, Kwabena Agyapong later replaced Peter Mac Manu on the Electoral Commission’s Electoral Reform Committee. His decision was met with harsh attacks and criticisms from members of the party, with amorphous youth groups in the party calling on him to reinstate the former.

The committee, however, submitted its final report to the outgoing Electoral Commissioner, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, who has promised that the EC would not hesitate to adopt workable recommendations in the report.

But reports reaching The aL-hAJJ indicate that Nana Akufo-Addo and his men are not happy about Kwabena Agyapong’s performance at the committee, especially for his inability to insist that the EC compiles a new voter register for the next elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo and his power hungry aficionados have been advocating for a new register for the 2016 elections.
