Mad rush for NPP paraphernalia

There is an upsurge in the sale of New Patriotic Party (NPP) paraphernalia in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

Traders of the party’s products in the city are said to be making brisk business across the region in recent times.

Interestingly, political party activities across the country are not that brisk now since the 2016 poll is a-year-and-some-months away.

It is therefore surprising to know that people are hankering to lay their hands on NPPs paraphernalia at this time.

During the paper’s visit to the party’s Ashanti Regional office at Krofrom on Thursday, people were in queues to buy the paraphernalia.

An elated-looking trader, Maame Konadu, said she was highly surprised about the high demand for the NPP paraphernalia lately.

According to her, usually, people buy those items when elections are about three months away.

Maame Konadu noted that, even though, the 2016 polls are not near, people are craving for the NPP colours.

She said NPP T-shirts went for GH¢25; hat sold at GH¢10; flag, GH¢7 and a small NPP-branded umbrella was GH¢6.

Maame Konadu said the prices were not deterring people from buying, stating emphatically that “business is good.”

According to her, most of the people that patronized her wares said they were fed up with the NDC government “which is collapsing the country.”

Maame Konadu said the people claimed the NPP is their only hope to save the country and so they were displaying the party colours in anticipation of victory in 2016.
