Ofosu Ampofo chides Mutala over outbursts

First Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has criticized the Member of Parliament for Nantong, Mutala Mohammed over his recent explosive outburst.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo says, “I have listened to the tape and I think Mutala went too far. We must learn to keep our cool because what he said has rather muddied the waters.” Mutala has accused some unnamed NDC Members of Parliament of greasing the palms of chiefs and opinion leaders in the Northern Region with "filthy, ill-gotten money” to his political career. The Deputy Trades and Industry Minister is incensed over what he says are attempts by the MPs to unseat him and has dared them to do their worse.

Speaking in an interview on Atinka AM Drive hosted by Kwame Adinkra, the former minister of Local Government and Rural Development said government appointees “must learn to be humble”. According to him, because some government appointees are exposed to so many valuable things, they tend to be arrogant, adding that, this does not auger well for a country like Ghana.

Mr. Ampofo said government appointees are supposed to serve and not to be served adding that such utterances could compromise the ruling party’s cohesion. Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu who was also on the same programme said the negative public outburst by ministers in the ruling party is an indication that “God is listening to the cry of Ghanaians”.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator says it is by divine intervention that the revelations are coming out and they are exposing the NDC and their ministers as corrupt and wicked.
