Western, Central Regional EDAIF office opens

Agro-businesses within the Western and Central Regions could now heave a sigh of relieve with the establishment of an office of the Export Trade, Agricultural and Industrial Development Fund (EDAIF) in Takoradi to serve both regions.

The EDAIF fund, started operation in 2000 but the Act that established it said the fund would provide financial resources for development and promotion of agro-processing industry.

Dr Baffour Osei, who led a delegation of the board to pay a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister said the EDAIF concept was to promote value addition to non-traditional exports.

He said the application process must however be duly followed by applicant.

Dr Henry Allassan, Director of Communication and planning of EDAIF, said creating the zonal office was to ensure accessibility as well as bringing key people in the EDAIF fraternity to business.

Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Regional Minister recommended that small offices of EDAIF should be created all over the country to enable rural farmers to take advantage of their services.
