Arrogance, inexperience of leadership won’t win power –Kofi Jumah

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed concern about some leadership problems in the party.

He is therefore appealing to party leaders to stop being arrogant and consult people who can help the party win power.

Maxwell Kofi Jumah says many leaders in the party- from the national level to the polling station level- are inexperienced and arrogant and added that, this is causing a serious challenge for the NPP.

Kofi Jumah was expressing his views on the decision by the National Council of the party to reverse the affirmative action directive on Atinka FM's AM Show hosted by Kwame Adinkra on Thursday.

He explained that, it is time some concerned members raised the red flag over the immature leadership of the party; adding, the NPP can boast of several matured people who are alive in the country and does not see why the current leadership does not want to rely on them to manage the party.

“If you are a party chairman, secretary, organizer or any other party official, it does not make you the smartest person on earth. This arrogance at the party headquarters must cease," he charged.

He explained that the NPP has the best human resource whose experience can help the party win power, yet the party is being managed by inexperienced people.

He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has so many problems like every other political party, but their issues are discussed internally and not in the public domain.

The former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) boss and former Deputy Local Government Minister said several decisions and policies of the party are worrisome, warning that, they can break the NPP.

Commenting on the so-called wind of change in Nigeria, Mr. Jumah said change must happen in Ghana in 2016, but until the party leadership check actions and utterances of some senior officials, the change will never come.

He alluded to the situation in Nigeria where professors and highly educated people were used as returning officers and said it is a practice the NPP must adopt going forward.

“The NPP use people who cannot read and write to represent them at the various polling stations and this must change, “he added.
