Anonymous Group threatens ECG

A group in Ghana known as Anonymous Ghana, has threatened to deal severely with Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for failing Ghanaians in the discharge of its responsibility in providing light to better the lives of the citizens.

The group, in their message to ECG on their social media platform, Twitter, which @TheGhanaWeb was mentioned, stated that they can no longer take the irresponsible behaviour of ECG anymore; hence are strategically coming up with an enforcement plan to address all bodies involved in providing energy to Ghanaians.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana has failed the citizens. We cannot take this irresponsible behavior anymore. You are advised ECG. We are here. We do not forgive. We do not forget. We are of the legion. We want power,” the message reads.

The group, seems to be inspired by the infamous hacking syndicate worldwide called anonymous but it is however not clear if there is any link between the two, and whether or not the threat issued will be carried out in ways already known to the public.

In recent times, some residents have threatened to burn down ECG offices in the areas to make bare their frustrations; other groups have embarked on street protests against government for failing to resolve the energy crisis.

Currently, Ghanaians are having to endure with a cruciating power rationing, enjoying the commodity 12 hours of light after every 24 hours of darkness.

To make the situation worse, the Electricity Company of Ghana, the nation's power company has, on severally occasions, deviated from a load-shedding timetable agreed on with the people making the situation unpredictable.

The erratic power supply situation has become very unbearable for businesses, whose operational cost have more than doubled trying to stay afloat. Some companies, have resorted to cutting staff to stay in business.

Whether or not this threat should be taken seriously, we will bring you updates.
