Private Doctors to halt services to NHIS card holders

The Association of Private Medical and Dental Practitioners has served notice it will cease service delivery to National Health Insurance Scheme subscribers beginning May 1, 2015.

The association claims services they rendered to subscribers since August last year are yet to be paid for, even though they continue to offer services.

Addressing a news conference in Accra Tuesday, the President of the Association Dr. Kwesi Odoi-Agyarkwa said they can no longer continue to provide the health assistance to clients if the arrears are not paid immediately.

The group has, however, urged its members to operate strictly by the contracts they have with the NHIA until the given deadline expires.

They also called for a dialogue between them and the NHIA to enable them work out effective strategies for the Capitation policy being implemented by the scheme.
