‘Be patient with Mahama’

Regional ministers in the country have appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience with President John Dramani Mahama as he finds a lasting solution to the current energy crisis.

According to them, government was making frantic efforts to resolve the situation and called for support from the general public so as to enable the president succeed in fixing the crisis.

The regional ministers made the appeal during the closing ceremony of regional ministers’ conference organised by the ministry of local government and rural development at Elmina on Thursday, March 12, 2015.

The three-day conference, which was on the theme “Working Together with the 7th District Assemblies for National Development,” took the ministers through the transformational agenda of the president and security among other issues.

Reading the communiqué at the end of the conference, the host, Central Regional Minister, Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, said they have taken note of the need to forge national unity and cohesion to complement government’s effort in that direction.

He added that the conference also offered them the opportunity to ensure that there was fiscal discipline in the use of the country’s limited resources. “It [has] also made us appreciate the need for a harmonious working relationship and mutual respect between superiors and subordinates to promote team work,” he stated. Mr. Quansah indicated that they have resolved to support all efforts to ensure the enforcement of the Directive Principles of State policy as far as practicable.

He acknowledged efforts being made to resolve the botched district level elections, adding that they have also resolved to work in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders to ensure a congenial atmosphere exist for the forthcoming district level elections.

The regional ministers therefore reiterated their commitment to promote national unity. They also called for action to be expedited on the implementation of the regional integrated budget.

The ministers later toured some of the sites of on-going projects in the Cape Coast Municipality including the Cape Coast Stadium which is about 85% complete and the Kotokuraba Market Complex.
