Betty Mould: I never took bribe from Woyome

Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Betty Mould-Iddrisu has categorically stated that she never received a bribe from the embattled businessman, Alfred Woyome.

Woyome is standing trial for allegedly defrauding the state of Ghc51.2 million.

The controversial payment was made under the tenure of Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu as Attorney General.

Woyome was arrested on February 3, 2012 after the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) that investigated the circumstances that led to the payment implicated him.

He was first arraigned on February 6, 2012, together with three others.

But speaking on Accra-based Starr FM with host Kwabena Anokye Adisi popularly known as Bola Ray, Mould-Iddrisu said she never took anything from Woyome.

“If you know me, you will know that as Attorney General, there is nobody who can sit in front of me and dare ever talk about: ‘Oh Betty if you do this I would give a thousand’...there is no court in Ghana that will ever and Alfred Woyome can never say about me that I gave Betty one Ghana Cedi. That is the bottom line,” Mould Iddrisu said on Wednesday.

The High court will on Thursday March 12, 2015 give a final verdict on the case.
