Assembly constructs new projects in Sunyani Municipality

Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, the Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, on Thursday cut the sod for work to begin on two separate storey buildings in the Sunyani Municipality.

Cost of the administrative block for the Sunyani Municipal health management team and a six-unit classroom block for the Methodist Vocational and Technical Institute at Baakoniaba is GH¢ 624,593.8.

The projects, expected to be completed within 10 months, are being funded by the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

Mr Adjei said projects in the municipality in the past six years had proved skeptics wrong and commended the municipal assembly for its efforts to improve the life of the people.

He explained that since 2009, the region had recognized significant achievements in the areas of especially education health and road.

Mr Adjei said construction works on Sunyani/Chiraa road and expansion of the Abesim head works of the Ghana Water Company were progressing.

He said works on the seven senior high schools under the community level senior high school programme had started and 59 school facilities had also been provided in 18 municipal and districts.

Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, said 77 boreholes had been dug in the municipality.

He said very soon the assembly would build a health center at Benua Nkwanta and work on the ring road project would be completed soon.

Mr Oppong-Ababio gave the assurance that the assembly would make sure that funds were readily available for the two projects, and advised the contractors to complete the work.
