We can’t fight corruption in silence - Bagbin

Majority Leader Alban Bagbin has said the fight against corruption can only be won with aggression.

He said: “we cannot be silent in fighting corruption but anger and revulsion against the menace is the key” to curbing the act.

The MP for Nadowli-Kaleo said the act of seeing corruption as a phenomenon that pertains only in the circles of politicians is a major hurdle which must stop.

Speaking during a public lecture at the Wa Campus of the University for Development Studies, the legislator said all hands must be on deck to nip corruption in the bud.

He said “the politicisation of corruption” aids corrupt officials to use it as a smokescreen to avoid prosecution.

Bagbin said it is regrettable that Ghanaians have generally glorified stealing from the national coffers.

He said one of the effective ways to pull the corruption brakes on public office holders is to strengthen the Asset Declaration Act.
