Techiman tourism zonal office inaugurated

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture (MoTCCA) has opened a tourism zonal office at Techiman.

The office, the first of its kind in the country, was donated by the Techiman South Municipal Assembly and located within the premises of the Techiman Community Centre and was refurbished at the cost of GHC18,000.00 by the GTA.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, addressing a mini-durbar to inaugurate the office as part of her two-day familiarization tour of the Region, said the essence of opening the office was to extend promotion of tourism from the national and regional offices to the Municipal and District Assemblies.

She said the office would also serve as a resource and information centre for tourism in the Techiman Zone and therefore assured that the Ministry would and the GTA would be providing technical assistance for effective and efficient functions and operations of the office.

Mr. Ahunu Dake, Board Chairman of GTA, said the office was one of four district offices to be opened in the country this year and the second is located at Kuntenase in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti Region.

He said the third to be opened would be at Navrongo in the Katsena-Nankana District in the Upper East Region whilst the fourth office would be located at Denu in the Ketu South District of Volta Region.
