Avram Grant: "Gyan’s absence will make it a little bit harder for Ghana"

Black Stars Coach Avram Grant has admitted that missing skipper Asamoah Gyan in the AFCON 2015 Group C clash against Senegal will make it “a little bit harder” for Ghana in Mongomo on Monday.

Though the former Chelsea Boss has not yet ruled out the possibility of fielding Gyan in the game against the Teranga Lions, DailySoccerGhana.com sources maintain that the attacker will not be in action.

“We will have to wait until tomorrow (Monday) to see if Gyan can make the game. He is a very important player for us, with everything he has done for the Black Stars, so of course we would like him to play. If it is not the case, it will be a little bit harder for us but we will do our best without him,” Coach Grant said at a press conference.

The Al Ain striker could not join his teammates in the Black Stars final training session on Sunday after suffering from malaria. Andre Ayew would have to prepare to captain Ghana in the absence of Asamoah Gyan.
