RAG satisfied with Ghana’s slots at Afcon 2015

The Vice Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana, Joseph Wellington, is satisfied with the two slots handed the country by CAF to officiate in the Africa Cup of Nations 2015.

The appointment of Joseph Lamptey and assistant Malik Alidu Salifu is an improvement on the 2013 edition, where the continent’s football governing body picked only the latter for the tournament in South Africa.

“I think it’s a good gesture for the country because during the last AFCON which was held in South Africa we had one slot and this time we were given two, even a highly populated country like Nigeria had only one assistant referee,” Wellington told Starr 103.5FM.

The two referees Lamptey and Salifu will join 43 other match officials in handling games at the 21-day event in Equatorial Guinea which kicks off January 17.
