“Robin Quaison must choose Sweden or Ghana now” – Coach Hakan Ericson

Stockholm born Ghanaian midfielder, Robin Kwamina Quaison, has been asked by Sweden’s Under-21 Coach Hakan Ericson to put an end to the uncertainty surrounding his international career by making a firm decision on whether he wants to play for Sweden or the Black Stars.

The 21-year-old, who has featured in 7 out of 18 Serie A appearances for Palermo this season, has been in close contact with Sweden Assistant Coach, Marcus Allbäck.

According to Allbäck, Quaison claims he is available to play for Sweden but Coach Ericson insists the youngster must declare his national team preference now since the Scandinavian nation is not ready to use him if he will eventually opt to play for Ghana.

“Robin has said he is still available for Sweden, which is gratifying. Basically, it’s all about whether he should choose the Sweden national team? He must decide. Everything will come to the crossroads the final day our senior side wants to take him out to play a competitive match and Ghana wants to do the same. We want to have an answer on which way it leans,” Coach Ericson told Swedish news portal Expressen.

“He can theoretically play for me in the U21 and then still choose Ghana. Is he available for the Sweden senior side? Should we keep him on the basis that we believe he can become an senior team player for Sweden or not,” he added.

Robin Quaison bagged a brace in Palermo’s 4-3 defeat at Fiorentina in the Serie A on Sunday.
