Apaak dares Franklin Cudjoe over ‘Payroll fraud’ threats

Presidential staffer Dr Clement Apaak has dared the President of the policy think tank – IMANI- Franklin Cudjoe to make public his ‘intercepted’ audit report on payroll fraud at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.

The IMANI boss has threatened to expose the Controller and Accountant General's Department over an incriminating document he has intercepted about the country’s payroll system.

He said the intercepted document showed that the country lost huge sums of money through the system in a manner, which was “orchestrated and well planned.

According to him, the report which has some staggering revelations is from an international firm, which audited the payroll system.

But reacting to the claims, Dr Apaak challenged the policy analyst to make his revelations available to the government instead of issuing threats in the media.

In a letter addressed to Cudjoe, Apaak wrote: “AS JDM (President John Mahama) has indicated, the fight against corruption and fraud against the state is collective fight.

“So, if you have intercepted a report from an international audit firm showing this payroll thing we are doing is a joke, please make it available immediately to the state investigative bodies or the public”.

He added: “What do you gain by keeping it; put it out! Why are you threatening to expose the Controller and Accountant Generals Department over your intercepted incriminating document about the payroll, expose it, it’s the first step in fighting corruption”.

He also urged the IMANI boss to file a case at the court, if he so, believes in the credibility of his intercepted report on the payroll.
