Rashid Sumaila to end loan stint at Kotoko, recalled by Sundowns

Asante Kotoko received a letter from Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday requesting for Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila to return from his loan stint with the Porcupine Warriors, DailySoccerGhana.com can confirm.

Kotoko is disappointed at the South African club’s call for the centre-back to end his loan stint with the Kumapem club, according to Acting General Manager Opoku Nti.

“It is true. He will be returning to Sundowns. I am not too happy about this but Kotoko is not in a position to do anything about this because according to our agreement with Sundowns, they can ask for him to return before tomorrow,” Opoku Nti told DailySoccerGhana.com.

The Kumasi based club earlier agreed with Mamelodi Sundowns that Sumaila could stay with the Ghana Premier League champions if the PSL side did not request for the ex-Dwarfs back-liner before January 8th, 2015.

Sundowns did not demand any monetary payments following the decision of Sumaila to join Kotoko on loan in October 2014.
