Majeed Waris bags brace as Trabzonspor annihilate Manisaspor

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris scored twice in Trabzonspor’s 9-0 drubbing of struggling second-tier side Manisaspor on Christmas night in the Turkish Cup.

His first goal was registered in the 54th-minute when he shot from inside the box to make it 6-0.

Waris’ second was a simple tap in from close range after being put clear by Oscar Cardozo, who also scored a double on the night.

Soner Aydogdu grabbed a hat-trick and single strikes from Serdar Gurler and Ishak Dogan saw to the demolition exercise.

Goals have been hard to come by for the Ghana international and this brace will go a long way to boost his confidence ahead of joining the Black Stars’ provisional 31-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
