Nayele's cocaine trial: Dawood,'cocaine girls' refused bail gain

All the six accused persons involved in the Nayele Ametefe cocaine scandal have been refused bail again by an Accra Circuit Court.

Last week, Justice Francis Obiri adjourned the case to Friday (today), December 12, 2014 to rule on their bail application as accomplices of Ametefe, the Ghanaian woman who was arrested for carrying cocaine into the UK.

Lawyers for each of the accused persons argued that the facts of the case as submitted by the prosecution did not support the charges their clients were accused of and therefore applied to the court for bail.

Some of the accused persons including, Nana Akua Amponsah and Sadalia Sandra Nuhu, both business women, who allegedly travelled with Nayele abandoned their luggage and managed to abscond after she was arrested at the Heathrow Airport.

The two were later arrested when they returned to the country and are currently facing trial in Ghana.

According to STARR NEWS’ Wilberforce Asare who was in court today, the judge refused the bail application again on condition that the prosecution is still investigating the case.

Asare added: “The Judge also indicated the court is also following the ongoing trial of the case in the UK”.
