Disabled Persons complete training in beads making

The Obuasi Office of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) with sponsorship from the Rural Enterprise Programme (REP) has completed a 15-day training in beads making for 22 physically challenged people at Obuasi.

The training was aimed at equipping the trainees with employable skills that would assist them to generate some money to enhance their livelihood.

The disabled persons after successful training were supplied with start-up kits that would assist them to start their own business in beads making.

Mr. Kelvin Ofori–Attah, the Obuasi Municipal Head of BAC, commended REP for the sponsorship which would reduce the practice of street-begging by physically challenged persons.

He said his outfit, through the Rural Enterprise Development Fund, would seek for additional financial support to boost the activities of the trainees.

Mr. Karim Iddrisu, the Chairman of the Obuasi branch of the Physically Disabled Persons, said it was high time the public patronized their products.

He appealed to the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, financial institutions and other corporate bodies to assist them with more kits.
