"Dumsor Dumsor" is artificially created by gov’t to sell off ECG - ECG Official

Maintenance Officer at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Central Region, Mr. Brekorang has alleged that the nationwide power outage is artificially created by government to sell the power distribution company to a private investor.

According to him, VRA and GRIDCo have been used by government to sabotage the service of ECG to make it inefficient before the public in order to win public sympathy as that will make it easy to convince the citizens to sell off ECG to foreign investors.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Mr. Brekorang asserted that government has already collected money from a foreign private investor in exchange for the power distribution service in the country.

He however disclosed that the removal of the ECG boss, Ing William Hutton-Mensah to the Energy Ministry upon his return from his annual leave is fueled by his refusal to adhere to the move by government to sell off ECG to a foreign investor.

“Government wants to sell ECG, and the Pastor said he will not allow the sale of ECG under his watch. I can say that he has been removed from ECG based on his refusal...the authority that he has to resist the sale of ECG has been taken away from him. They have managed to convince Ghanaians that ECG is inefficient; they have silenced our PRO not to comment on the frequent power outage again. They have created this artificial outage in the country in order to win public sympathy for them to sell the company. We all know that the power outage is due to the inability of GRIDCo and VRA to supply energy for distribution; but there are agents in GRIDCo, VRA and ECG to sell off the company,” he asserted.

“Government has signed the Millennium Challenge Account for money in order for a foreign investor to use part of the distribution service of ECG in Tema and Accra,” he alleged.

He therefore warned that any attempt by the authorities in the Energy sector to sack him from his post will equally meet a curse upon their families and their generations; demanding that our court system should give room for placing curses in order to find out the truth when no one is willing to give evidence.
