All set for Eastern Regional NDC conference

About 364 delegates are expected to cast their votes and decide the fates of 54 candidates, when the Eastern Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates’ conference comes off at Nsawam this weekend.

The candidates are scheduled to contest for the positions of the chairman, vice chairman, women’s organizer, youth organizer, propaganda secretary, and deputy propaganda secretary.

In all, there are 17 positions to be contested for.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Koforidua, on Tuesday, Mr Anthony Gyampo, Regional Secretary of the party, said per the party’s constitution, three major conferences would be organized, namely the Women’s; the Youth’s; and the General Regional Party conferences.

The general conference is slated for November 15, while the Women and the Youth conference were both slated for November 13, at Akyem Oda.

Mr Gyampo explained that the delegates of the regional general conference include constituency executives, district chief executives, sitting ministers who hail from the region, and founding members of the party in the region.

He said all the contesting candidates had to go through the vetting process per the constitution of the party, prior to the election, which would be conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).
