GFA official attempts to extort money from Feyernoord striker Manu

Feyernoord striker Elvis Manu has reported an unnamed individual to the Ghana Football Association for attempting to extort money from him.

According to Footy-ghana.com, the unnamed individual, who is the former Chief Executive of one of Ghana’s Premier League clubs, approached Manu and asked the striker to pay him 10,000 euros to ensure that he is selected for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The sports website adds that the development has displeased the GFA hierarchy, especially as efforts are underway to get Manu to change his citizenship in order to play for the Black Stars instead of the Netherlands national team.

The individual whose identity is deliberately being withheld is a current member of the Local Black Stars management committee and has taken money for similar purposes in the past.

The same individual reportedly took $15,000 from the father of Germany-based Philemon Ofosu Ayeh a few years ago, with the promise to get the full back into the Black Satellites; a promise that was never fulfilled.
