Woman disowns Amoateng in passport fraud case

A woman whose passport details were used to produce a passport for former MP, Eric Amoateng, has denied knowing the ex-lawmaker Tuesday at an Accra Circuit Court.

Babara Inkoom was picked up in August 2014, following suspicions that the former Nkoranza North MP’s photograph had been superimposed in her passport.

Miss Inkoom who was brought to court Tuesday to testify against Amoateng told the court that she cannot be of any help because she never received the passport she applied for at the Passport Office.

According to her, she applied for a passport in 2008 and is unaware that her details were used to produce a passport for the former legislator who was jailed in the US for 10 years for trafficking heroine.

Miss Inkoom told Starr FM’s Wilberforce Asare that she is happy she has finally been discharged since she is no way connected to Amoateng.

“They called me to testify whether I am actually the owner of the passport form and whether I got the passport myself which I testified no,” Barbara told Starr News.

Inkoom added that the details on the passport form of Amoateng were similar to the details on the form she filled in 2008.
