Kwesi Nyantakyi confident of retaining GFA seat

GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi expects to survive a challenge for his seat in next year’s elections.

The affable and widely respected football administrator is hugely favoured to win a third consecutive bid to lead Ghana Football for another four years.

The FA will go for congress in less than six months to elect new FA boss which is expected to be an exciting contest following recent criticism from ex-football stars Sammy Kuffuor and Laryea Kingston.

Ex-King Faisal chief Vincent Sowah-Odotei is the only individual who has declared his intention to challenge the young lawyer for the seat.

Executive committee member Randy Abbey is believed to be nurturing an ambition to test the popularity of Nyantakyi even though he has claimed he’s not interested in the hot seat.

Nyantakyi, who doubles as an Executive member of the continent’s governing body, CAF, is upbeat about his chances.

“I am not a boastful person; I cannot sit here today and say when we vote I will be FA president,” he said

“It depends on those who will vote, you can only hope that you will win, I know I enjoyed a good relationship with the people who will vote on the fateful day.

“I am hopeful that they will repose the confidence in me come next year.”

Nyantakyi has been credited for a number of reforming while being hailed for transforming Ghana football since he assumed the presidency in 2005.

His critics however say, he’s had enough and must give way even though no credible opposition has emerged.
