Mahama to visit Burkina Faso

President John Dramani Mahama will be in beleaguered Burkina Faso “this week to get all sides to agree on an interim administration.”

President Mahama will also be in the country to chart a way forward regarding the government of the country.

The West African nation has been given a two-week ultimatum by the African Union to hand the administration of the country to a civilian government.

But in his capacity as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of Ecowas, President Mahama tweeted on Tuesday, November 4 that he will be in Burkina Faso though he was not specific on the day that visit will be.

Two days of protests in the Francophone country resulted in the resignation of President Blaise Compaore, who had attempted to extend his 27-year rule.

He has been offered temporary shelter by Ivory Coast's Alassane Ouattara.
